Peggy Roulo came to visit the Advanced Culinary Arts students in the Blue Apron today, to teach them a few tips & techniques about what she's learned over the years as "The Cake Lady" of Warsaw. She not only shared her cake decorating skills, but also talked about the business aspect of her life & the importance of building relationships with customers.
The Warsaw Area Career Center truly appreciates the time Peggy spends investing into our students!
Utilizing seven different ways to make pumpkin bread, Culinary students experimented using healthier ingredients and recipes. With only 1 recipe containing the typical ingredients, six other recipes were used to make healthier options like gluten free, cholesterol free, egg free and low fat. After these were all created they then got to do some taste testing. YUM! Starting with the healthier options first, they then made their way through all seven to the typical ingredient version last. This experiment proved that to most when not tasting something packed with the sugars first and instead substituting with healthier ingredients they taste the same!
Last week, while the Blue Apron Restaurant was closed to the public, our advanced culinary students practiced making homemade corn torillas.
The Blue Apron Restaurant will be opening later this month and our Chef has announced it's first special:
Prime Rib: In house roasted, then grilled to perfection, paired with garlic red mashed potatoes and sweet onion glazed baby carrots.

Blue Apron Menu
Students of the Warsaw Area Career Center's own Blue Apron Restaurant served lunch to some of our WCHS and Central Office staff yesterday and today during their "soft openings" or "practice runs" before preparing to open later this month. On Tuesday staff had the option to choose from a limited menu while today they were served a three course meal including a special of Chicken Parmesan. These students have been working very hard to not only finalize the restaurant's menu but also practice and perfect each recipe. Special thanks to our Chef Bragg for teaching and encouraging these students to run such a wonderful restaurant! Stay tuned for the announcement of our official opening date!
