Laughs & Tears at Movie Premiere
On Friday, August 4th, nearly 300 people turned out to watch the red carpet movie premiere of John the Lion. Those in attendance were treated to an evening of laughs and some unexpected tears as the plot unfolded. In the movie, Chris Williams is a high school student struggling to relate in his history class. He is given an assignment to write out the life story of someone in his hometown who is over 70 years old. Chris just wants to make it through the assignment, but what he discovers is more than he could have ever imagined...
The movie’s director, recent WCHS graduate, Beau Eckel, enjoyed witnessing the emotions of the crowd first hand after working on the film for the past year as part of an independent study class. Following the showing, those in attendance waited in a long line to obtain the signatures of the cast and director. Comments such as “This hit home,” “I can’t believe a high school student made this,” and “Where can I get a copy of this to share with others” were heard.
