Students in Ms. Tiede's Advanced Child & Development classes recently participated in an activity that helped them better understand the importance of protecting the environment and child safety when it comes to dogs. The students were made aware of the danger of leaving behind their dogs waste as it can carry harmful bacteria & microbes that can easily make its way to lakes & streams nearby. They also learned about how children are more susceptible to be exposed to these wastes as they spend more time closer to the ground- playing around it and then touching their mouths, eyes, etc. So, to also incorporate physical activity into this lesson, students relay raced across the WACC commons area to pick up (play dough) dog poop. These students had fun while learning to protect the environment and children both!
