The Warsaw FFA Chapter had the opportunity to assist with the 4th Annual Barn & Business Breakfast at Grace College Orthopedic Capital Center yesterday. This event was put on by the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, Kosciusko County Chamber of Commerce, Grace College, Silveus Insurance, and Kosciusko County Farm Bureau. This event was a perfect chance for FFA members to mingle and network with top business and agriculture leaders in our community, along with hearing from great guest speakers Larry Clemens, Director of North America's Agriculture Program, & Dr. Nate Bosch, Director of the Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams.

For more information about the event, check out the article from Ink Free News in Warsaw:

Last week the Warsaw FFA Chapter celebrated National FFA Week with plenty of awesome activities around the school and community. Each school day had it's own theme wear & event planned for students to participate in.  Tuesday was FFA apparel day with a guest speaker from Huntington University presenting to each Agriculture class. They also hosted a taco Tuesday lunch for members to partake in. Wednesday was American apparel day with pizza for lunch and Minute-to-Win-It games after school. Thursday was Hawaiian apparel day with a Just Dance party after school. On Friday, the FFA members hosted the annual Staff Appreciation Breakfast and wore Official FFA Dress all day. Indiana FFA State Officer, Wyatt Law, also paid a visit to WCHS/WACC on Friday. The students were able to tour Depuy Synthes and learn about joint reconstruction & replacements, as well. Be sure to check out all the fun they had with the pictures below!

On Saturday, January 26, the Warsaw FFA Chapter Meeting (parliamentary procedure) Team competed in the Indiana State FFA Chapter Meeting Contest held at Lebanon High School.  They earned 6th place in the state in this extremely difficult contest- a great accomplishment!

The purpose of the contest is to demonstrate the correct procedures of an official FFA chapter meeting, including opening ceremonies, order of business, handling of numerous motions and closing ceremonies. Student objectives include demonstrating the use parliamentary procedure to conduct an orderly and efficient meeting, demonstrate knowledge of parliamentary law and reference Robert’s Rules of Order, present logical, realistic, and convincing discussion, and record complete and accurate minutes.

The members involved were (in attached picture L to R):

Morgan Smith, Reagan Rowland, Ciara Stout, Bailey Hanes, Valerie Messmore, Jacob Baker. Zach Howard, Ayden Ault, and Hunter Lane.

Warsaw FFA Advisors Jacob Riley and Julie Carrell along with community member Ot Schroeder coached the team.  Special thanks also to Brent and Renea Messmore for their assistance.

The Warsaw FFA Chapter has teamed up with the Kosciusko County Combined Community Services to help with their Adopt-a-Family program again this year. We have adopted a family in the community to make their Christmas merry and bright. The Warsaw FFA Chapter and Agriculture Department has started to collect donations for the family. There are two Christmas trees in the Warsaw Community High School Agriculture rooms with ornaments labeled with items for the adopted family. FFA members and students are pitching in to make this family’s Christmas one to remember and so they can enjoy their time with family.

Respectfully submitted,

Taryn Whetstone, Adopt-a-Family Committee Chair; Warsaw FFA Chapter
