February is National Career & Technical Education Month and we are ready to celebrate here in the Warsaw Area Career Center all month long!
Throughout the month we will be showcasing not only all the programs we offer, but more importantly the amazing teachers who continue to enrich the lives of their students by encouraging them to pursue their dreams, the students who are furthering their skills & knowledge by participating in these outstanding courses, and our local industry partners who help make it all possible. Below is our first student highlight:
Matthew Harstine is a current senior here at WCHS/WACC in our Internship program with Mrs. Ross. He's interning with SRKM Architects where he has been helping design renovations for Rees Theater in Plymouth. Matthew has taken many WACC classes, including: Preparing for College & Careers, IM: Video Edition, Principles of Business Management, Aviation Flight/Private Pilot Ground School, Intro to Engineering Design, Honors Principles of Engineering, and Honors Civil Engineering & Architecture. In his spare time, he enjoys rock climbing, outdoor recreation, volunteers at his church, and does amateur photography. Matthew is also an Honor Roll student, in the National Honor Society, & has been a two-time Gold Key Award recipient in photography. Upon graduation, Matthew plans to go to either Purdue University, Ball State University, or Grace College to major in Business.

Be sure to stay tuned this month as we not only feature more stories about our wonderful staff, students, and community partners but also explain more about what CTE month is all about!
Directly from the Association for Career & Technical Education (ACTE) website, CTE Month® is a public awareness campaign ACTE holds each February to celebrate Career and Technical Education and the achievements and accomplishments of CTE programs across the country. CTE Month 2018, with its tagline of "Celebrate Today, Own Tomorrow!" gives us the chance to inform others of the innovation and excellence that exists within our local CTE programs and raise awareness of the crucial role that CTE plays in readying our students for careers and our nation for economic success.
