The Blue Apron is a student-run full-service restaurant, open Tuesday & Wednesday from 11:00 – 1:00 pm.
In the French cuisine, the color of an apron worn by the staff denotes the level of mastery. The Blue Apron is known for it's “student in training” approach. Our students are receiving both high school and college credit while enrolled in the program.
Mrs. Carmichael's Fashion and Textile students are finishing their first project--a pillowcase. The complimentary colors of the fabrics the students chose were lovely. Most of these students have never used a sewing machine before this semester. From the "magic" of creating the cuff to the final press, students are learning valuable life lessons and having a great time while learning!
It's beginning to look a lot like the end of the semester!!! Fashion and Textile students are beginning to finish their PJ pants and are ready to stay cozy and warm this winter. Mrs. Carmichael's students have learned so many valuable skills this semester. One student said the skill she has had to practice the most is patience!!! Something we can all use a bit more of. What a wonderful "sewmester" it has been!
Fashion & Textiles have been learning about the difference between woven and knit fabrics. They have learned to knit and weave and the projects they have produced are as individual as the students. It has been a fun way to express creativity while learning new skills.
